MORE THAN JUST A COMPETITION
Sámi Grand Prix is the biggest and most important stage for both traditional and modern Sámi music and yoik. It has been organized for many years and is the largest Sámi music event and show.
Through SGP, we get to hear some of the best Sámi artists and yoikers for the very first time, and many Sámi music hits and classics have their roots here.
The competition, the artists and yoikers, the music and yoik, and the history itself are all at the heart of Sámi Grand Prix.

SUBMISSION TO SÁMI GRAND PRIX 2026 IS OPEN!
Sámi Grand Prix 2026 will be held on March 28, and we are searching for new voices and important stories from across Sápmi - both from experienced artists and yoikers, and from new talents. This is more than a competition: it is an opportunity to step forward as an artist, to collaborate with other musicians, and to make your dream performance a reality through shared creative production.

The application deadline is February 26.
Song category – a new song in Sámi, in any musical genre.
Joik category – a new yoik that follows some of our yoik traditions.
- Songs and yoiks must be original compositions.
- Songs and yoiks must not have been published previously.
- The artist or joiker must be at least 16 years old by January 1, 2026.
History
This is the Sámi Grand Prix history
Sámi Grand Prix was first organized in 1990, and since then it has been the biggest Sámi music event.
Its purpose has been to bring forward, promote, and showcase newly written songs in Sámi, as well as new yoiks.
Áillohaš
MUSIC AWARD
The Áillohaš Music Award is given to an artist, yoiker, musician, group, or another contributor who works with Sámi music in the spirit of Áillohaš.
