Conversations and art exhibition “Ancestral Voices - Memory Projections”

From Chile to Sápmi comes Corporación Traitraico, an art collective that carries the living memories of Indigenous Peoples such as Mapuche, Selk'nam, Kawésqar and Yagán. They come to build bridges between nations of Indigenous Peoples who are still fighting for their territories and their culture. We invite you to be part of these activities from March 30th to April 05th at RiddoDuottar Musea in Kárášjohka on March 30 and 31 and at Guovdageainnu Kulturviessu from April 01 to 06.

The exhibition includes four formats presented in different combinations throughout the tour:

Photography exhibition — A selection of 20 photographs documenting collaborative work in Mapuche, Selk'nam, Kawésqar and Yagán territories in Patagonia and the southern region of Chile.

Video art — In-room projections exploring the ritual and ancestral: the Ngen Ko (water spirits) and the ceremonial centre Ngen Kintuantu (the spiritual force that seeks the sun).

Micro-documentaries — Five audiovisual works: Territorio Ancestral (Ancestral Territory), Pilmaiken Resiste (Pilmaiken Resists), Relatos de Fuego (Tales of Fire), Relatos de Mar (Tales of the Sea) and Relatos de Bosque (Tales of the Forest), with subtitles in English and some indigenous languages.

Conversation — Open meeting with the project's artists to discuss research, creation and cultural management from the territories.
